Scheduling is the great divide, says Laura Hatch of Front Office Rocks. The schedule can dictate whether a day goes smoothly or if it’s hectic from start to finish.
Are your time allotments realistic? Hatch suggests, “Keep track of each and every appointment in your office over a two-week period. At the end of the time study, note the length in minutes for each procedure that you did, and then figure the average length of that procedure based on those numbers. What this does is tell you on average how long it takes to do a specific procedure.”
After that, you can assess your patients’ needs and come up with a plan for allowing enough time in the schedule to reasonably accommodate them.
