Women are becoming more predominant in business. Specifically, women are becoming a significant part of the dental industry. Since the 1980s, the number of women in the industry has continued to rise. Additionally, the past two presidents of the American Dental Association have been women.
In an article from Dental Economics, Stephanie Needham writes, “Since 2001, the number of licensed dentist who are women has grown from 26,870 to just shy of 48,000”. That is a pretty good increase for a 15 year period, and that number continues to grow today.
